Making soap bubbles in the rain
Making soap bubbles in the rain
A few months ago had I been in this exact same location, with the same light, I would have framed the shot and waited for a moment with no people passing by. Recently I have been using a new approach taking this kind of pictures which seems to be leading to a lot more interesting results. After having walked around "the scene" contemplating many different point of view and after having found and framed carefully the composition that most pleases my eye, I shoot a couple of test shots just to make sure I got the exposure right. Then, I simply wait... it makes me feel like I am fishing somehow... it's interesting how people seem to not even see me anymore. Once I set my tripod and just stand there next to it, without looking through the camera, it seems like I become invisible to their eyes... then, and only then, a whole bunch of opportunities start unveiling in front of the camera. And this is how I caught this little kid, dressed like a frog, playing in the puddles and making soap bubbles... he was totally into his game and didn't see me, so his parents (just to the right of the camera) seemed not to care about me...

I love watching this picture... it shows through this child happiness what I feel when I go out with my camera, alone, and shoot... everything is magic and beautiful...
